About Mrs. SpeerHello, I'm Courtney Speer, third through sixth grade technology teacher & coach at Nettleton UHSMA. I taught 6th grade math for five years and it has been quite the adventure since then. Within that time I've had the opportunity to teach resource math and language arts, pre AP math, be an EAST facilitator, and implement Computer Science. Last year was my first year as the Computer Science teacher; implementing technology elective courses for our fifth and sixth graders at Nettleton STEAM. These numerous opportunities have provided me with a broad spectrum of skills that I am able to share with both my students and colleagues. I am thrilled to be a part of the UHSMA family this year and utilize my skills to aid my students in their technology courses as well as collaborate with the teachers in my building as the Technology Coach.
I currently live in Jonesboro, AR with my husband and our two energetic mini Aussies. I enjoy reading, playing tennis, and spending downtime playing various video games. EducationI graduated from Arkansas State University in 2013 with my Bachelor of Science degree in Mid-Level Math and Science Education, then 2015 with my Master of Science in Mid-Level Education/Curriculum. Although I am passionate about mathematics, I have always been drawn to educational technology, I am currently pursuing my Master of Science Education degree in Learning Systems Technology from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. I am in the last leg of this degree and plan to graduate in December 2019! It is an exciting and ever expanding field that I use to coach other educators in the effective implementation of technology within their classrooms. I hope to only grow these skills further through my degree and position for this year.
